One Eighty

Wastyn and Associates has given One Eighty the opportunity to not only increase revenue but more importantly given us a platform we didn’t have before. As an organization we were “stuck” on taking the next step to increase our capacity. And then came Linda. Not only has she helped us achieve the financial stability to take those steps, but also the Strategic and Fundraising Plan to sustain our growth.

About One Eighty

Thirteen years ago, Rusty Boruff, founder and executive director of One Eighty, decided to make a change. Selflessly, he began his journey to not only change his own life, but to help others in his position, impacting the future of struggling west Davenport families for years to come. Today, because of his determination to make a difference, One Eighty brings hope, love, and opportunity to people and communities impacted by crisis, poverty, or addiction. One Eighty’s programs prevent these cycles from repeating in future generations, reach out to people in crisis, and develop the capacity of people in crisis to create their own path to recovery.

One Eighty offers three programs with different approaches to helping people in crisis, poverty, and addiction. The Prevent Program encourages a stable environment at home and school, connections to caring adults and opportunities, and faith foundation for kids in Davenport Schools affected by family instability. Grants written by Wastyn & Associates have secured funding to expand their athletic program, open an emergency tutoring program during the pandemic, and provided lice and flea mitigation for low-income families and students.

The Reach Program helps people currently in crisis, poverty, or addiction. One Eighty leads a community outreach group of volunteers that does outreach into local jails, provides a food pantry in Mercer County, and betters the neighborhood around them. The One Eighty app makes it easier for people to access needed resources to get through a crisis.

Finally, One Eighty’s Develop Program helps people come out of crisis, poverty, and addiction with a 14-month residential program. Participants learn Christian principles, connect with mentors, further their skills and education, and partake in One Eighty Enterprises’ Career Training Program. Graduates can live in one of the 11 stability houses that One Eighty owns. Grants written by Wastyn & Associates have helped One Eighty renovate numerous properties to increase the number of residents, especially in the Women’s Program, and expanded the Career Training Program. Wastyn & Associates also secured grant funds to create more transitional housing options for program graduates, including the Quad Cities’ first Tiny Homes.
